“Crime doesn’t pay.” Or so the old saying goes. But these days in Paragon City, sometimes even when they are caught the criminals don’t pay either.
With the ever rising number of jail breaks, increasing use of legal loopholes, and more, criminals don’t seem to be repaying their debt to society as the heroes bring them in in record numbers. Every hero worth his salt has come to the line and wondered if there wasn’t a more permanent solution. No matter how long they stand there, no matter how far they lean, most heroes never cross that line.
Section-8 has been a powerful force against crime in Paragon. As a member of TACLET, he was responsible for putting an end to a great many plans and dealings of the Family and 5th Column, fighting the spread of terrorism and drug traffic.
In recent days, however, it has come to the attention of law enforcement and the media that this hero may have finally gone too far.
At a protest outside the Crey Industries buildings, which is rumored to have been part of a terrorist act against CI, Section-8 reportedly opened fire slaying a number of the protesters. In an attempt to stop him, a number of Crey security lost their lives as well. CI released a statement shortly after the incident. “Operative Section-8, both as a member of TACLET and as a part of our own security and operations had always been a loose canon, but one we thought we had under control. We are saddened by this final break from society that he appears to have suffered, and our prayers go out to the families of those who’s lives have been taken.” They went on to outline a plan to assist in tracking down and capturing Section-8, as well as urging the city to revoke Section-8’s hero license.
Later that day the city officials did exactly that, denying Section-8’s authority to operate as an extension of the law enforcement branch, and ordered that all further actions of Section-8 be viewed as the acts of a violent vigilante and criminal.
